about
Mari Stølan is a cultural strategist and executive advisor bridging institutional, creative and commercial worlds and ambitions.
Creative expression and cultural references are continuously reinterpreted, reshaped and built upon across generations, disciplines and contexts. In a fast-paced and increasingly digitalized world, Mari finds her most interesting work rooted in human creativity and curiosity, clear values and ambition, and unexpected encounters across disciplines and talent.
Her background spans cultural institutions, strategic consultancy and independent creative practice. She spent several years leading strategic development at the MUNCH museum in Oslo, where she built the museum's international strategy and initiated collaborations that connected museums, brands and embassies, receiving extensive international coverage in publications such as Vogue Italy and Harper’s Bazaar.
In addition to an international focus, Mari’s work at MUNCH included strategic audience development, evaluating and developing MUNCH Publishing and exploring new areas of growth.
Prior to MUNCH, Mari Stølan worked as Business Architect, independently and at the strategic innovation consultancy Æra, leading commercial development projects across public and private sectors, including the Norwegian Red Cross, Varner Group and OsloMet.
She is co-founder of SØLV Clothing, a heritage clothing brand exploring slower and more transparent approaches to fashion production through a direct-to-consumer, pre-order business model. Through SØLV, she spoke at TEDxOslo on intentional business development, creativity and sustainable growth. The brand was nominated for both the Norwegian design award Nåløyet and the Norwegian Design Council’s Young Talent Award.
Mari is educated in design and business at Central Saint Martins, University of Arts in London, and BI Business School in Oslo.
